The SSD boots vista twice as fast. Also, on a normal hard drive, vista would take 10 minutes for the desktop to settle after booting, whereas on the SSD, the desktop is instantly useable. No more disk thrashing!Great value for money, BUT ... One day after 4 months, the SSD stopped working properly. The computer locked up and I noticed it can't access the SSD anymore. When I reboot the computer, the SSD works for 5 minutes and then stops working again - not enough time for a partition copy. I'm going to try and send the SSD back under warranty. I have all my data backed up, but it is going to take me 10 hours to reinstall all my programs. Sometimes, this is what you get for value for money. I noticed there's plenty of bad reviews for this product. I found that this SSD uses the unreliable SandForce controller. My next SSD will probably be the Crucial CT128M4SSD2, even though the Crucial has less performance than the SanDisk. Take... This SanDisk drive is really easy to install and I just used the recovery discs from my Netbook to reinstall Windows. Now I can boot up in around about 8 seconds, and also save over an hour of battery life!Great product and I would recommend to anyone. I need speed and to not be waiting for two train stops for my Sony Vaio to turn on. Switching the SATA 2.5" hard drive for this has made an incredible difference to my laptop. Both booting up and actual usage. The previous 3-4 minutes time from turning on to being able to use it is now less than 50 seconds.I cannot recommend this enough. Great brand, good price and SSD is the way forward if your time is at all valuable, which I am sure it is! |
