So, here is the "Dummies Guide to the iPad" to help you make that decision. "I promise to keep the jargon down to a bare minimum" :))To begin with the iPad must be paired to an existing Laptop or Desktop PC. These can be normal Microsoft Windows or Mac PC's. Once paired you can use the iPad by itself. It only has to be paired once. Although, there is a rumour that the next generation will work straight out of the box. You will be able to: -Touch and pinch the screen to type words and move things around -Send and Receive Emails -Browse the Internet including Online Banking, Internet Shopping and more... -Listen to Music, including the Radio when there is a Wireless (Wi-Fi) connection -Watch Videos and Movies -Write and Print Letters (see the section on 'Printing' further down) -Download and Play Games -Become a... So easy to set up and use - I love it to bits. I am not a techie but a moderately savvy "silver surfer" and this is one of, if not THE best bits of kit that I have ever bought. I particularly love that Kindle app and, as a Kindle user, I've transferred all my ebooks over to the iPad so they are now all in full colour and back lit. Anybody want to buy a Kindle? 34 of 37 people found the following review helpful This review is from: Apple iPad 2 Wi-Fi - Tablet - 64 GB - 9.7" IPS ( 1024 x 768 ) - rear camera + front camera - Wi-Fi, Bluetooth - black (Personal Computers) I bought the iPad 2 after owning and still using an iPhone 4 32GB smart phone. At the time I bought a standard win 7 laptop to use around the house and surf the web with etc.. The only downside to the laptop was the setting up, powering up and waiting on win 7 to start up before you can do anything. In the end I started to use my IPhone to surf and email, and found this very convenient as it was always switched on and no boot up times :-) coupled with the touch screen interface just made it natural to use. So the next step for me was the iPad, due to the bigger screen and onscreen keyboard made this a no brainer, plus as I have found out you can copy the same apps from the iPhone via ITunes to the iPad when you first plug it in, also the HD iPad only apps make this even better. One criticism I have with the IPad 2 is that it will not charge via the USB port of a pc. Since then after a bit of googling I have now downloaded the Asus free software which allows for this now, and works on... Read more |
